Arkansas Baptist College’s first season of football calls for an eight-game schedule, highlighted by a Sept. 15 match-up against Blinn College, the defending National Junior College Athletic Association champion, and two games in Little Rock at War Memorial Stadium.
ABC athletics director Charles Ripley announced the schedule July 5, saying it offers challenges and opportunities for Coach Richard Wilson’s Buffaloes.
“There’s no easy games on our schedule,” said Ripley. “I’d like for it to include four home games, but I’m optimistic we’ll have more home games in 2008, a nice fan base and good corporate support. Coach Wilson and his staff will inspire their players to compete hard and with class. We’re going to win, but we’re facing an uphill struggle this year. We’re just now completing our football staff and won’t have his first team meeting until the end of July. We‘re still signing-up players and waiting for our practice gear and uniforms.”
The Arkansas Baptist College schedule:
Sept. 1 (Saturday) -- Trinity Valley Community College, Athens, TX., 7 p.m.
Sept. 6 (Thursday) -- Northeast Oklahoma A&M College, Little Rock, 7 p.m.

In winning the 2006 NJCAA title, Blinn defeated previously unbeaten Pearl River (MS) Community College 19-6 in the title game and posted a perfect 12-0 record. Four players on that team earned National JC All-America honors and Coach Brad Franchione was selected the National Two-Year Coach-of-the-Year. Blinn, located in Brenham, TX., is a member of the Southwest Junior College Football Conference, as are the six other teams on ABC’S 2007 schedule. Arkansas Baptist College is a National Junior College Athletic Association independent in football.
